Each year Wendy Edsall-Kerwin challenges artists to make a bowl on Super Bowl Sunday. This year she’s going to teach you how to make one yourself!
This workshop will focus on the technique of sinking a bowl. Students will use special hammers to push out a flat sheet of metal into a 3D hollow-ware piece. We will discuss different finishing techniques and proper use of a hammer. Students can then upload images of their finished bowl to the Super Bowl Challenge Flickr group online after the workshop is over. For more info on the Super Bowl Challenge, follow this link.
Students must wear closed shoes (no sandals or flip-flops) and non-flammable clothing without flowy sleeves. If you have long hair, please bring something to pull it back with, a hair tie or bandana, etc.
In this class we will focus on: Sinking, bouging and planishing metal
